In Her Defense
Meer Campbell
This page is just my thoughts on how Meer is viewed at times
and how I disagree with most of these things; I'm bacically
just defending Meer. ^_^
I know, Meer is not a very appreciated character in
Gundam Seed Destiny; she is constantly bashed and insulted.
So, why are we making a shrine dedicated to her?
Well because she deserves one! Much like Fllay she is completely
misunderstood, called a 'whore' and a 'wanna be Lacus'.
Well, it's true that Meer wears revealing clothes, she constantly tries to get
close to Athrun but wouldn't you want to get close to him too! >.0
To hate Meer for being close to Athrun is pretty silly seeing as almost all the GSD
girls wanna get with Athrun. But as I have stated in the AthrunxMeer relationship page, they become
alot closer then Luna and Meyrin will ever be in GSD.
Meer believes she is saving her home and the thousands of people who
live in the Plants, she is fooled by Gilbert's words and doesn't
realize that she is just a puppet being controlled by Gilbert. But doesn't she
have great qualities as well? When she found out Athrun was
going to be targeted, she didn't hesitate to go help him proving that she isn't
as dumb as some think. Wasn't she the one who saved Lacus and didn't she
inspire and raise the hopes of the soldiers of Zaft?
Meer isn't Lacus, because
the two are completely different, she never actually
knew Lacus, therefore
she could never try to be her; what Meer wanted to be was the person that people
looked up too, the person who was known for her beautiful, strength,
and courage, much like alot of PLANTS citizens. Meer wanted Lacus' life, the way
everyone viewed her, and the way she was
treated. But, in order to have someone's life you have to take on their appearence
and that's exactly what Meer did. Throughout the entire series Meer says she wants to be like Lacus
"Just like Lacus Sama" she tells herself. But yet her actions speak much louder then her words.
She disrequards the fact that Lacus does not where revealing clothing (which can be debated as I will state below)
and sets a different mood with her songs, making them fast and dance to them. Even her atitude is obviously
different, Meer being alot more cheerful. These things are noticed by everyone in ZAFT. Some like Meer's
style better while other just go by the fact that "shes changed".
Also, I believe she would have paid a lot more attention
to what Athrun told her: "
Lacus would never do such a thing!"
because Meer at the beginning constanly asked Athrun if she was like Lacus this should have been a shocker to hear.
Instead of stopping in her tracks she questions the fact that why Lacus
wouldn't. You see more then in any
other part of
the series that she has stopped caring about what Lacus would do, and does more of a what she wants to do.
Meer was Meer the entire time she was supposed to be
Lacus.
She never hide who she really was, even if she took on a new name.
There's really no way you can
put her against Lacus. Why? Well, because Lacus is a goddess, with no faults,
she never does anything wrong in a sense, Lacus is perfect compared to
all the GS/D characters who have gone though some sense of emotional
and physical pain and have done things that are not right because of it.
To compare Meer, a girl who is emotionally wreaked, lost, and afraid,
to an all mighty Lacus is completely unfair. I'm not saying it is wrong to compare and
contrast the two, but to say "Lacus is better then Meer because Lacus doesn't go crazy"
or anything similar to that, is unfair to Meer because Lacus is one of those characters that
doesn't ever lose it.
Many people have it that Meer was pathetic for even considering becoming Lacus
and for being easily manipulated by Gilbert. One thing that people fail to realize is that
Gilbert is a very persuasive person, who can accomplish so much with words. Gilbert
takes control of the situation perfectly and twists it so that it'll turn out his way, for
example Athrun returning to Zaft, it was because of Gilberts word. Gilbert took control
of Shinn's need to protect and win and easily used Shinn. He used encouraging words each time. So
if Gilbert can get a cool headed Athrun and a hotheaded Shinn on his side what can he not
do to an insecure girl like Meer Campbell.
I've been thinking and I've seen about 20 Lacus pictures that reveal alot mainly the breast area. I find it
ridiculous that Meer is constantly called a slut for having a tight outfit on yet Lacus can show her boobs
and not be called anything.
This is some new stuff I've seen over the net (but I have to state my opinion). Where in the series
does it ever say "Meer got breast implants"!? She had surgery. Yes. But it was for her face! To make
her look like, Lacus Clyne. If you compare both her
past and
present appearence, you'll see that she was not
flat to begin with. She just started to wear more revealing clothing once she had the surgery.
